William Blake (1757 – 1827) was a English Romantic Age painter, poet, and printmaker. His wild imagination and idiosyncratic views have kept him in high regards with the art critics. He began his career as an engraver and also did relief etchings. His views on conventional religion were controversial as were his views on the 19th century “free love” movement and Age of Enlightenment philosophy. William Glackens ((1870 – 1938) was an American Realist Painter and one of the founders of the Ashcan School of American Art which focused on portraying scenes of daily middle class life in New York. The works from this group were robust, urban themes done with energetic painting styles. Glackens later developed his own coloristic style which many compared to Renoir. His subject matters varied constantly through his life with portraits, landscapes, and still lifes. William Hogarth (1697-1764) was an English artist, printmaker, engraver, and satirist. He is credited with the concept of sequential art. His works cover a wide range of topics including realistic portraits, comic-like strips, political satire, and historical art. He made several series of moral works including A Harlot’s Progress, Rake’s Progresses, and Marriage à-la-mode which is considered to be his finest work. William Merritt Chase (1849-1916) was an American Impressionist Painter who established a school for artists known as the Chase School. He played various roles in his life including an artist, teacher, father, and sophisticated cosmopolitan. Although he worked with all media, he was most talented in oil painting and pastel, as well as watercolor. He is best known for his portraits, who sitters included important people of the day and also his family members. Locations including Prospect Park, Central Park in New York City, and Shinnecock Hills on Long Island were popular locations for his outdoor paintings. Our set of patterns includes several self portraits, and numerous portraits including Portrait of a Lady, lady in Pink, Lady in Black, The Blue Kimono, Girl in Red Embroided Jacket, The Mandolin Player, Still Life Fish, At the Seaside, Azaleas, Girl in Japanese Costume, Portrait of Miss Dora Wheeler, and Portrait of Louis Betts.

Windmills are structures that convert wind power into rotational energy. This energy is applied to grind grain, pump water, or generate electricity. Windmills are generally oriented vertically, but through history some horizontal designed windmills are documented. The vanes of the windmill are called sails or blades and are covered with a satin cloth or wooden shutters. Most windmills have four sails, but designs with as many as eight sails can be found. In the Netherlands the positions of the sails in non-working windmills, can signal joy or mourning. Our Windmill pattern set contains designs created from photographs of windmills in various environments including clear and cloudy skies, grassy fields, along water ways and roads, and with sunrises in the background.

Winslow Homer (1836-1910) was a talented American Painter who is best known for his landscape and seascape imagery done in watercolors. We’ve assembled 27 of his most recognized paintings into a picturesque SegPlayPC collection. You find many of his Maine sea paintings, along with a Cuban street corner, a wall in Nassau, a hurricane in the Bahamas, and several Adirondack scenes.
