Robert Henri (1865 – 1929) was an American painter and teacher and a leading figure of the Ashcan School of American realism. The Ashcan school was a moment away from impressionism and focused more on realistic art which would be more relevant to the artist’s time and experience. Henri became a influential art teacher emphasizing more the attitude to their approach to art. His works comprise many portraits including those of his fellow painters. Our collection of Robert Henri patterns includes many of his most recognized works including Salone, Mary Agnes, Woman in Manteau, Irish Boy, La Reina Mora, the Goat Herder, El Tango, Viv in Blue Stripes, Segovian Girl , Roshanara, Patience, as well as several landscapes.

Albrecht Dürer (1471 – 1528) was a German artist from Nuremberg. He is generally regarded as the greatest painter of the Northern Renaissance (in Europe, outside of Italy). His talents included the use of paints, woodcuts, engraving, and watercolors. He introduced classical themes in his works and applied many theories of mathematics, perspective, and ideal proportions. He influenced a great number of painters in succeeding generations. Our collection of Albrecht Dürer patterns includes several self portraits and many examples of his styles including Saint Jerome in His Study, Knight, Death, and the Devil, Melencolia, Young Hare, Adam and Eve, Praying Hands, Great Piece of Turf, and many portraits including Oswolt Krel, Hieronymus Holzschuher, Barbara Dürer, Bernhard von Reesen, Emperor Sigismund, and Elsbeth Tucher.

Bartolomé Esteban Murillo (1617-1682) was a Spanish Baroque painter who painted scenes of everyday life in seventeenth century Seville, Spain. He also painted many religious themes including the Annunciation, Madonna and Child, and the Immaculate Conception. In the centuries after his death, he had a great reputation in Europe (even more so than Velázquez) and considered the last great painter of the Spanish Golden Age. Murillo’s paintings bridge the dark simplicity of Spain’s early Baroque artists and the sensuality of the approaching Rococo era. Our collection of patterns includes a wide selection of his art including A Girl and Her Duenna, Beggar Boys eating Grapes and Melon, The Flower Girl, St. Lesmes, The Little Fruit Seller, Young Boys Playing Dice, and a self portrait.

Claude Monet (1840-1926) was a founder of an artist movement known as Impressionist painting. In fact, the term Impressionism is derived from the title of one of his paintings ‘Impression, Sunrise’ which was done in 1872. His wife’s name was Camlile and she was the subject of several of his paintings (The Woman in the Green Dress, The Woman in the Garden, The Red Kerchief) as was his first son Jean (Hobby Horse). He lived in various cities throughout his live including Paris, Normandy, London, Vétheuil, Vernon, and Giverny where many of his well-known garden scenes were painted. Our pattern set includes a vast selection of Monet’s art pieces and series. You’ll find many well known paintings including Impression, Sunrise, Woman in the Green Dress, Houses of Parliament, Haystacks, Water Lilies, Nympheas, Rouen Cathedral, and Bouquet of Sunflowers. There’s also a self-portrait of Monet included in this large set.

Hans Memling (c.1435 – 1494) was a leading Flemish Painter of his time. He lived in the city of Bruges and was a prosperous man due to the many patrons who commissioned paintings (usually of a religious theme) to be done by him. His style borrowed from other Flemish painters of the time including Jan van Eyck, Dieric Bouts, Roger van der Weyden, and Hugo van Goes. He also painted a number of three-hinged panel art pieces (known as triptychs) and two sided ones (known as diptychs). Sandro Botticelli (1445 – 1510) was an Italian painter of the Florentine school during the early part of the Renaissance. Several of his works are considered to be among the most recognized masterpieces of florentine art. He developed a highly personalized style taking the linear approach to new levels of sophistication. He spent almost all of his life working for the influential families of Florence, in particular the Medici family for whom he mostly painted portraits. Our set of patterns includes his most important works including the Adoration of the Magi, The Birth of Venus, Venus and Mars, Primavera,Portrait of a Man with a Medal, The Return of Judith, Portait of a Young Man, and The Annunciation. There are also many portraits, and several of his “Madonna and Child” paintings he completed late in his life.
