Edward Bannister – African American Artist

Edward M. Bannister (1828 – 1901) was an African American artist in the late 19th century whose works focused on landscapes and seascapes, with an emphasis on pastoral subject matter. Although well known in his adopted home of Providence, Rhode Island, his talents were forgotten for over a century due to among other reasons, racial prejudice. We’ve pulled together a large collection of his works in this pattern set. There are some of his more recognized works included (Driving Home the Cows, The Doryman, Approaching Storm, Sabin Point). There are also many other examples of his landscape works, and also some still lifes, and a few portraits.

Paul Gauguin – Post Impressionist Synthetist

Paul Gauguin (1848-1903) was an innovative post impressionistic painter who experimented with bold colors in a mystical style of painting (soon to be called Synthetism). He was greatly influenced by the exotic Polynesian world, where Tahitian themes abound in much of his artwork. Francisco Goya – First of the Moderns

Francisco José de Goya y Lucientes (1746-1828) was a renown Spanish artist best known for his subversive, satirical, and objective style. Although officially employed as a Spanish court painter, his best work was done apart from his official duties. Our SegPlayPC™ Goya collection comprises 26 patterns of his best works. There are several self portraits, nude and clothed Maja, numerous portraits (Dutchess of Alba, Isidoro Máiquez, Countess of Chichon, José Antonio, Juan Martin Diaz, Maria Teresa, Sabasa Garcia), and a number of period scenes (The Grape Harvest, Water Carrier, The Parasol). El Greco – European Mannerist

El Greco was considered the architect of the Spanish Renaissance, blending his Greek heritage with his Italian homeland, and Spanish emigration. The SegPlayPC™ pattern set for El Greco contains 25 patterns created from his most well known paintings filled with elongated figures and iconic symbols. There are many portraits of Popes, Cardinals, a Friar, Antonio Covarrubias, Julije Klovic, an unknown Lady, and a self portrait.
